Class - Requirements California State law requires all applicants for a driver license under the age of 18 to take Driver Education and Driver Training. Driver Education consists of 30 class hours. Driver Training consists of 6 actual hours of behind the wheel training. Safestway Driving School holds Driver Education classes during the school year on Saturdays and all school holidays (Spring break - Winter break, Thanksgiving or any 4 day break in the school schedule). Saturday classes are held on four consecutive Saturdays. Class times are from 8:30am to 3:40pm with a 30 minute break for lunch. You must attend all classes in order to receive a completion certificate for Driver Education. If you are 15years old, but not 15 1/2, you can take Driver Education but will NOT be able to get a learner's permit until you are 15 1/2! However if you would like to get a head start and do Driver Training, Safestway Driving School can issue you a Student License that allows you to take Driving Lessons only with an instructor from Safestway Driving School. (You must have completed Driver Education) The "Student License" does not allow you to practice with any one other then an instructor from Safestway Driving School. Upon becoming 151/2, completion of Driver Education and receiving your completion certificate for Driver Training, you may apply for your Learner's Permit. Our D. E. classes in Walnut Creek, are held at 1133 Bont Lane.
